"The atmosphere is usually festive and its not uncommon to find the pinata-adorned patio packed at 1:30 a.m. on weekends."
"Best Late-Nite Eats" New Times 2001
"The Cuisine is Guadalajara-style, the cabana cabin-style and the tortillas are made by hand right in front of your very eyes."
Los Angeles Times, 4/18/78
"Like a cozy Mexican cottage, the restaurant has dim lighting, arched entryways and terra-cotta overhangs. A tequila-drinking crowd is drawn to the partially covered, festively adorned patio. Tuxedo-clad servers deliver platters of Tex-Mex selections. Meat-filled empanadas with chipotle sauce is a popular starter. Entrees include steak picado, which is packed with chunks of beef in a mix of potatoes and vegetables. Handmade flour tortillas accompany most dishes, served hot off a large brick griddle."

"Since 1963, Venetians have relied on La Cabana for authentic Mexican munchies served until the wee hours of the morn. Butt-kickingly strong margaritas and grande burritos have turned even faraway Eastsiders into loyal repeat customers. The outdoor patio, a rarity on congested Lincoln Boulevard, makes an ideal location for parties, especially on weekends when the wandering mariachis are in the house. Inside, dark wood and terra cotta fixtures reminiscent of a Baja hideaway offers dark corners for romantic trysts or views grill where tortillas are made and delivered fresh to your table. In addition to the Mexican staples like burritos and enchiladas, Tex-Mex specialties such as empanadas also grace the menu. Other favorites include red snapper and chicken in a garlic cream sauce. Although La Cabana has a reputation as a post-club noshery, the restaurant's waitstaff maintain their professionalism even when the locals go loco."
Jenna Robbins, www.aolcityguide.com, 2003
"This is the most genuine looking Mexican restaurant I have been in. Arches of old brick, rough plaster walls, heavy beams, and an elderly lady making tortillas throughout the evening all combine with the throngs of diners to let you know this is a real Mexican restaurant."
Grace Hiney, Palisadian Post, 1978
"The generous hand of the chef has made this a favorite guacamole-before-the sackamole Westside stop-off. The cuisine is Guadalajara-style, the cabana is cabin-style and the tortillas are made by hand right in front of your very eyes."
L.A. in the A.M., Los Angeles Times,1978
"The tortillas are homemade and handmade--the Carne Asada, a thin, butterfly beefsteak with salsa ranchera, positively brings back the savor of Mexico itself.."
George Goldberg, Palisades Previews, 1983
"It's all about the margs, boast beachcombers of this "south-of-the-border kitsch" Mexican in Venice; big-time boozers "thank God" that this "cheap" joint is "open till 3 AM" for after-last-call "quesadillas made with every imaginable filling" and "fresh tortillas", just right for soaking up that "great variety of flavored" tequila concoctions."
Zagat Guide, Los Angeles Nightlife, 2002
"A staff that moves effortlessly and practically unseen to meet your every need, where can you go wrong here?"
Zagat Guide, Los Angeles Nightlife, 2005
"The Original Margarita is unbeatable and made with Cointreau. The waiter squeezes the limes himself with the power and grace of a bullfighter"
Casey Dake & Mike Harvkey, www.ThirstyCity.com
"In an area where good Mexican food is few and far between, La Cabana stands tall. Save some room for homemade flan. As festive as Mexican restaurants come--pinatas of all shapes and sizes hang from the ceiling. Sit next to the tequila bar to watch homemade tortillas being made. Dimly lit, La Cabana will surely put you in the mood"
John C. Arroyo, www.HungryCity.com
